Wembley awaits for Year 5/6 Footballers

Huge congratulations to our Year 5/6 Football team who on Tuesday won the South of England Kids Cup final held in Oxford. This competition followed our win at the AFC Wimbledon competition back in November. In this round we represented AFC Wiimbledon against all the other League one clubs in the South of England - 12 in total. We are now on the way to Wembley and a National Final for the second time in three years!

In the group stages we won 3 of our 4 games scoring some great individual and team goals. Our other group game saw us draw 0 v 0 with Bristol Rovers but with superior points we topped the group.

In the semi finals we confidently beat a good Walsall side 2 v 0 which set up a final against Southend. This was an incredibly close and tense affair and, despite going one goal behind early on, we end winning the game 3 v 1.

The full results were as follows

Group Stages

  • AFC Wimbledon 3 v 0 Charlton

  • AFC Wimbledon 1 v 0 Oxford

  • AFC Wimbledon 0 v 0 Bristol Rovers

  • AFC Wimbledon 1 v 0 MK Dons

Semi Final

  • AFC Wimbledon 2 v 0 Walsall

  • AFC Wimbledon 3 v 1 Southend

This now means they now get to play at Wembley on Sunday 27th May 2018 in the national final, just before the League One Play Off final. An amazing achievement and a truly fantastic experience awaits for them.
