Admissions Process
ADMISSION TO YEAR 3 SEPTEMBER 2012
Key dates for your diary:
Offer date of places: 18th April 2012
NB: If you are not offered a place at Cleves and wish to join the Waiting List for Year 3
you must contact Mrs Durnan - Admissions Officer
You will not automatically be added to the list if not offered a place
The application process for the main intake to Cleves at Year 3 starts as your child joins Year 2 at their Infant School. Currently there is an application window between September and January in which you can attend open evenings and tour the schools of your choice. Please see specific dates listed above.
You will then complete a Surrey County Council Admissions Form or apply Online to via Surrey County Councils website - and list three schools that you would prefer your child to attend in order of preference. The Surrey form (if you do not appply on line) is returned to your Infant School. Our admission criteria is then applied to all applicants regardless of which preference Cleves may be (1,2 or 3) and offers are made at the end of February in the following year.
Cleves is part of the Equal Preference Scheme as described above and the Co-Ordinated Offer Scheme which means that all offers for the main Year 3 intake are made on the same date (as set by Surrey County Council) as all other schools.

Tours of the School
At main application time we hold two open evenings early in October and following these there are many tours of the school for you to see it in action. These can be booked at the open evenings or by phone. Tours will always be carried out in the morning at either 9.15am or 11.15am and are usually an hour long - they are not really suitable for very young children - who tend to get very bored!
At other times of the year we attempt to get small groups of parents together in order to tour the school - please contact us to arrange this but be aware that it may not happen immediately.
Appeals
Should you not be allocated a place at Cleves you have the right to appeal to the Governors of Cleves School against the decision not to offer your child a place.
The Governors will make arrangements to enable parents to appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel having given full regard to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. Appeals are normally held in May.
Appeals for Year 3 2012 will be heard during the week commencing 11th June 2012
Transfer at other ages
Should a place become available for a pupil to join the school at a time other than when transferring from Infant School, the Governors will apply in order the principles set out in the over subscription criteria (see admissions policy on right).
Transfer to Secondary School
You will need to apply for your Secondary School place as your child joins Year 6. The process is identical to that when you apply for Year 3 and the open days and deadlines are very similar. Once you have completed your form and preferences you return the Surrey Form to Cleves any other form that a school may request is sent directly to them. Applications for secondary school can also be made online on the Surrey County Council Website (Link on Right).
The three local secondary schools are Heathside, Rydens and Esher Church of England High School. Approx. 22% Cleves children move into the private sector for their secondary education.
